The Law Society takes the health and safety of our staff, the public and the profession seriously and so we are monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and following the advice of experts at public health agencies including Manitoba Health:

For the most part our present operations are continuing business as usual. This means that meetings and events including Continuing Professional Development sessions are proceeding as scheduled.  Keeping in mind the social distancing protocols that have been recommended we are looking at alternatives to in-person attendance and will do our best to make those options available to you.

We have, however, postponed Lawyers for Literacy indefinitely due to the protocols and advisories that have been issued by Shared Health relating to COVID-19.  When the current situation resolves and there is more certainty, we intend to reschedule.

The Great Library will remain open although given the restrictions on students from the University of Manitoba the Law Library Hub will be closed until further notice.

We have implemented enhanced hygiene and cleaning protocols at the Law Society and we encourage everyone to follow the personal preparedness and guidelines that have been issued by public health agencies.

In the event that you are unwell, or you may have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, please reschedule your visit to the Law Society to reduce the risk to others.

As the situation evolves and the advice of medical authorities changes, the Law Society will review our operations and inform our staff, the public and the legal profession.

This is a stressful time for everyone. We worry about our work, our clients, our families and the world in general.  Please remember that lawyers and your families can contact our Health and Wellness program at any time at 204 – 786 – 8880.
