The purpose of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (the College) is to regulate immigration and citizenship consultants in the public interest and protect the public.
The Board supervises the management of the College’s affairs. At present, the College is governed by a transitional Board of nine directors: five non-licensees appointed by the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and four licensees of the College elected by their peers.
Directors participate in College Board meetings, the College’s Annual General Meeting, and any other activity outlined in College by-laws.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has launched a new selection process to establish a diverse pool of qualified candidates for future appointments to the Board of the College. The selection process emphasizes openness, transparency, merit, and inclusivity to reflect Canada’s diversity and uphold high standards of governance. Ideal candidates will bring relevant Board experience, a solid understanding of modern corporate governance principles, experience interpreting legislation and experience making balanced decisions on complex issues.
