The Law Society joins all Manitobans to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day and the summer solstice. We recognize the rich and diverse cultures of First Nations, Métis and Inuit people, and their many contributions to law and society. The Law Society is committed to engaging in ongoing reconciliation.
In recognition of Manitoba’s cultural and historic context, our benchers recently revised our policies to give particular regard to Indigenous bencher candidates, whether as elected or appointed benchers. We are currently developing resources to assist lawyers in building cultural competency in response to the TRC”s Call to Action #27. More details coming soon.
