Western Canada Competency Profile Renamed
Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the Western Canada Competency Profile (WCCP) implementation. Your input on potential changes to the bar admission process is valuable as the participating provinces continue to assess the proposed approach. The results of the survey are currently being analyzed and an aggregate report will be shared with the profession when ready.
A reminder that no decisions have been made about whether to proceed with the proposed WCCP implementation approach. Recommendations to each respective law society on next steps will be informed by the feedback received through this survey, considerations around the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education operations and the overall regulatory environment in each jurisdiction.
New Name
In the interim, there is an important update to the WCCP that lawyers and students should be aware of.
As the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society has joined this initiative, the WCCP has been renamed to Competencies for Entry to Legal Practice (CELP) to include all participating provinces.
