Position Summary:
The Family Staff Lawyer for Manitoulin Island provides legal services in family and some child protection matters, including intake, assessment, summary advice, and drafting court documents. The role involves supporting clients through the Family Law Information Clinic and acting as duty counsel in family and criminal matters, both virtually and in-person. Responsibilities include courtroom representation, supervising per diem duty counsel, and travel across Manitoulin Island and occasionally to Espanola and Sudbury. Preferred candidates will have access to transportation. The position combines legal advocacy with document preparation, client support, and oversight of duty counsel services in both family and criminal law.
